ABOUT ME

I have posted this resume and cover letter on my website at https://SuzannesTutoring.com/Suzanne-Roussin so I can better introduce myself and demonstrate why- with my eclectic education, professional fieldwork, and pedagogical experience- I am the best candidate for the STEM Tutoring Supervisor position with St. Louis Community College! I have had the privelage of tutoring here, at both the Forest Park and Florissant Valley campuses, since 2018. In addition to the over 6 years already with the college, my two-plus decades in teaching consists of a variety of experiences. I have traveled extensively as a public speaker, a private instructor, written ongoing columns in nationwide print media, and am entrusted with training new-hire tutors.

My previous post-graduate, alternative academic studies include an Ed.D equivalent. My main graduate project was completely designing, from the ground up, three different types of school systems that could improve the current state of public education in the U.S.; and afterward, to critically pick them apart for realistic small changes able to be easily implemented in schools, especially when on a low budget and in the midst of systemic stagnation.

I am certified in tutoring by the CLRA International Training Program, under which StLCC remains compliant. I have also developed my own methodology in studying and tutoring skills, organized as a dynamic four-tentpole system. I have presented this method in many seminars, given many times in college training programs for both tutors and students, and included in various other workshops about study skills. Additionally, I create tutorial videos for www.YouTube.com/SuzannesTutoring.

Based on my prior education, I am on an accelerated path with UMSL to earn my newest M.S. of Biochemistry, in which I have already been working for >4 yrs. This is in no small part due to the trust I quickly earn as a result of my job performance, leadership skills, and initiative. My work ethic includes identifying and enthusiastically assuming advanced responsibilities, whenever and wherever I’m needed.

For instance, during my time as peer tutor and operating the Anatomy & Physiology Bone Rooms at StLCC, I recognized the lack of student awareness for all the great tutoring resources available. Subsequently, I began designing and distributing flyers advertising the Academic Success Center and student labs. The posters were well-liked, eye-catching, brought in an increase of students to receive help, and I became one of the go-to people for creating many signs and displays, generating better awareness that these resources were available FREE to the students. This extended into designing “HELP WANTED” and other signs, since more peer tutors were needed due to the resultant influx of students signing up for tutoring.
